Tony's Chocolonely's mission is to make 100% slave-free chocolate the norm. They aim to tackle modern slavery and child labour in the cocoa industry by raising awareness, leading by example, and inspiring others to act. Their approach includes three pillars: creating awareness, setting the example, and inspiring others. They also follow five sourcing principles to ensure slave-free cocoa. Tony's believes that collective action is necessary to achieve a fair chocolate industry.
Tony's Chocolonely bars have two wrappers: a thin, recyclable aluminum foil and a paper wrapper made of unbleached, uncoated fibers. This design simplifies recycling—foil in regular waste, paper in the paper bin. The aluminum is single-material for easy separation and 100% recyclability. Although the recycled paper previously used is unavailable, Tony's continues searching for suitable alternatives. For more details, check out their mission page.
